Risk Assessment
XFMEA/RCM++ offer several methods for assessing various types of risk:
-
RPNs and related metrics use the severity, occurrence and detection ratings assigned for effects and causes in the FMEA to calculate a variety of metrics.
-
Criticality analysis is part of Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
-
When performed as part of FMEA/FMRA, it may be qualitative (using rating scales based on the severity and occurrence scales) or quantitative (using the same rating scales plus additional fields defined in the FMRA).
-
It can also be performed using the separate MIL-1629A Criticality Analysis utility.
-
Additionally, the Alpha/Beta Ratios Worksheet is available in the FMEA. It is used to calculate the likelihood of each effect occurring, assuming a known overall failure rate for the item.
-
-
Starting in Version 2023, you can perform Supplemental FMEA for Monitoring and System Response (FMEA-MSR), which focuses on risk in an operational context, once the system has reached the customer/user. FMEA-MSR uses the severity after MSR, frequency and monitoring rating scales.
