Introduction

This guide describes how to implement ReliaSoft SEP by Hottinger Bruel & Kjaer Inc. for your organization. It covers tasks that typically require IT expertise.

After the SEP web portal is functional, you can manage users and configure various options via the SEP admin utility. This may require cooperation from an IT admin either to provide the application admin(s) access to run the SEP admin utility on the web server or to manage users and configure settings based on their business requirements. For information about these tasks, see SEP Admin Utility - Manage Users and SEP Admin Utility - SEP Settings in the SEP help.

We recommend that you read each of these topics sequentially and follow the instructions. In general, you will need to perform the following steps:

  1. Prepare your database and web servers for your implementation.
  2. Install the web portal and activate your license.
  3. Create a ReliaSoft database, if you don’t already have one that you'd like to use.
  4. Update the configuration file on the web server.
  5. Perform various post-installation tasks, as necessary, to ensure that the application functions properly.
  6. If desired, make configuration changes to IIS to improve security.
