L/HIRF ED/AD Analysis

You can perform L/HIRF environmental damage/accidental damage (ED/AD) analysis for any L/HIRF Significant Item (LHSI) that has a "Yes" answer to any of the LHSI selection questions.

The rating system is configurable at the database level. (See Configurable Options for Zonal and L/HIRF Analysis.) This topic describes:

Adding or Deleting an Analysis

To add a new ED/AD Analysis tab, select an LHSI in the L/HIRF and choose L/HIRF > Analysis > Add ED/AD Analysis.

To delete an analysis, select a tab in the Analysis panel and then choose L/HIRF > Analysis > Delete Analysis. (Remember there is no undo for delete.)

Using the ED/AD Analysis Tab

Top Section: Ratings

The top section of the ED/AD Analysis tab contains the following rating system:

  • Hostility of Environment/Material Ratings
    • Hostility of Environment: A set of ratings that are used to classify a variety of environmental factors (such as exposure to corrosive products, condensation, etc.).
    • Material: A set of ratings that are used to classify various material characteristics and their susceptibility to damage.

The Hostility of Environment/Material score is assigned based on a scoring matrix that considers the worst rating for any of the hostile environment factors and the worst rating for any of the material types. You can click the icon to see the matrix.

    • Likelihood of Accidental Damage: A set of ratings that are used to classify the likelihood of accidental damage during manufacturing, operation of the aircraft or maintenance practices.
  • ED/AD Overall Rating
    • The Likelihood of Accidental Damage/Environmental Damage Susceptibility score is assigned based on a scoring matrix that considers the environmental damage susceptibility (i.e., the Hostility of Environment/Material score) and the worst rating for any of the accidental damage types. You can click the icon to see the matrix.

Bottom Section: Tasks

The bottom section of the tab allows you to define any maintenance tasks that are recommended based on the ED/AD analysis.

To add a new task, choose L/HIRF > Tasks > Add Task.

To view or edit the properties of an existing task, select the task and choose L/HIRF > Tasks > Edit Task.

For information about the task properties, see L/HIRF Analysis Tasks.
