Limits for GDI Objects and User Objects

The registry in Microsoft Windows establishes limits for the number of “GDI object” and “user object” handles per process on your computer. If you start to approach these limits while using a ReliaSoft desktop application, a warning message will be displayed.

In most cases, you can simply close some windows that you’re not actively using and continue to use the ReliaSoft application.

However, if you need to perform an action that requires more handles than the current limits on your computer (e.g., a BlockSim simulation with a very large number of blocks or subdiagrams), you may also need to increase the limits in the Windows registry before proceeding. You can use the instructions provided by Microsoft (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724291%28v=vs.85%29.aspx and https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/sysinfo/user-objects) or contact Technical Support for assistance. Note that you will need to have administrator rights on your computer and will need to restart Windows for the changes to take effect.
