Functions

To add a function to the Functional Failure Analysis, choose F-F-E-C > Function > Add Function.

To insert a new function above the selected function, choose F-F-E-C > Function > Insert Function.

To edit an existing function in the functional failure analysis, use the properties window. To open the properties window, select the function and choose F-F-E-C > Function > Edit Function or double-click the function in the hierarchy or filtered view.

In addition to the options and fields common to all record properties windows, the specific function properties (in the Function area at the top of the list) are as follows:

  • The Function # field contains a number that is automatically assigned by the software based on the current position of the function in the current F-F-E-C hierarchy.
  • The Function field allows you to type up to 255 characters to describe a function that the item is intended to perform, along with any specific performance requirements.

Tip: For any properties window, blue text indicates that you can edit the field, italic gray text indicate that the information is automatically populated by the software. When you click inside any editable text field, the Select Existing icon   displays a list of the unique text descriptions that have already been entered for this field.
