Using the Allocation Utility
Lambda Predict's allocation analysis tool can help you determine the reliability requirements for individual assemblies that would be needed to achieve an overall reliability goal. The allocation is performed at the block level, so to perform the analysis, you will first select a standard item (i.e., , , , , , or ) or a hybrid block or a generic block that contains at least one block in the next level below.
With the item selected, open the Allocation window by choosing Prediction Tools > Allocation > Allocation.
In the Allocation window, use the Allocation Type drop-down list on the control panel to select the desired allocation model. The available types include:
Once you have selected an allocation model, select the check box for each block you want to include in the allocation. Note that in order to analyze a dependent block, you must select its parent block. Enter the reliability goal and other required information (descriptions of the required fields for each allocation model are presented in the topic relating to the model), and then click the Calculate icon to calculate the reliability allocation.
The table is updated to show the results of the analysis. To view a plot of the analysis, click Plot on the control panel. To export the analysis to a Microsoft Excel file or delimited text file, click Export.
Tip: Although the Allocation window shows the inputs and results for only one analysis at a time, the last inputs and results from other allocation types are stored in the utility. This means that you can switch back and forth between allocation types without losing any data, and that you can view plots for any of the allocation types that have at least one block included in the analysis.
Control Panel
The control panel displays the input fields that are applicable for the analysis type that is currently selected in the Allocation Type drop-down list. See the topic relating to the allocation model for details.
Calculate performs the allocation analysis based on the current settings.
Plot switches to the plot sheet, which allows you to view plots for any of the allocation types that have at least one block selected to be included in the analysis.
Select All selects all of the items to be included in the allocation analysis.
Clear All clears the check boxes for all of the items, so you can then select only specific items to be included in the allocation analysis.
Export exports the allocation analysis to an Excel file or delimited text file.
