Adjustment Factor

For all components and blocks (regardless of which prediction standard you are using), Lambda Predict provides an Adjustment Factor that allows you to tweak an item's calculated failure rate by a specified value. In the Tree View, this factor is displayed under the Application heading. In the Pi Factor View, it is displayed under Other Base Factors.

For example, if you have reason to believe that the actual failure rate of a component will be half of the rate calculated by the prediction standard, you change the adjustment factor from 1 (the default) to 0.5. If you expect that the failure rate will be twice what would be calculated by the standard, change it to 2. And so on.

The following picture demonstrates this example using three instances of the same component. The first shows the full calculated failure rate (Adjustment Factor = 1), the second shows half the calculated rate (Adjustment Factor = 0.5) and the third shows twice the calculated rate (Adjustment Factor = 2).
