Block Costs
The Block Costs worksheet for simulation diagrams displays the costs that accrued during the simulation time for each block. The values shown are averages of the results of all of the simulations.
Note: You can customize the order in which the blocks are displayed in the simulation results by right-clicking inside the diagram sheet and choosing Set Block Order on the shortcut menu. You will need to resimulate the diagram for the new block order to be shown in the results.
- Block Name: The name of each block in the diagram.
- Block Description: The description of each block in the diagram. This is displayed only if Show Block Description is selected on the ribbon.
- Total Cost: The total cost that accrued during the simulation time for each block, which is based on the task, crew and spare part pool costs along with the block consequential costs, as defined in the Block Properties window.
- For each of the four classes of tasks (i.e., corrective,
preventive, on condition and inspection), the following information
is presented with regard to costs that accrued during the
simulation time for each block:
- Misc.: The miscellaneous costs associated with the task class. This is based on the cost per task and downtime rate, specified in the Maintenance Task window.
- Part: The cost for spare parts due to tasks of this class. This is based on the direct cost per item as specified in the Spare Part Pool window. Note that this value is not available for inspection tasks, as inspections do not use spare parts.
- Crew: The cost for crews due to tasks of this class. This is based on the direct cost per unit time and cost per incident, as specified in the Crew window.
- Block Failure: The costs associated with failure that accrued during the simulation time. This is based on the block's number of failures multiplied by its cost per failure, as specified in the Block Properties window.
- Block Downtime: The costs associated with downtime that accrued during the simulation time. This is based on the block's downtime multiplied by its downtime rate, as specified in the Block Properties window.
- Total Block Downtime: The sum of the Block Failure and Block Downtime costs.
- Block Uptime: The costs associated with uptime that accrued during the simulation time. This is based on the block's uptime multiplied by its uptime rate, as specified in the Block Properties window.
- System Level Contribution: The portion of system level costs due to downing events that can be attributed to this block. This is calculated based on the system level failure costs and downtime costs (total), as shown in the System Costs worksheet; the percentage of times this block caused a system failure; and the percentage of downtime for which the block was responsible. Specifically: (Total System Events * System Cost per Failure * Block RS FCI) + (Total System Downtime * System Downtime Cost * Block RS DTCI).
