Parametric Binomial Reliability Demonstration Test

Weibull Reference Examples Banner.png

This example validates the results for a parametric binomial test design in Weibull++.

Reference Case

The data is from Example 14.2 on page 361 in the book Practical Reliability Engineering by O’Connor and Kleyner, Wiley, 2012.

Data

To demonstrate a reliability of 97% at 1,000 hours with 50% confidence, 15 samples are tested for a zero failure test. How many hours should these samples be tested? The failure times are assumed to follow a Weibull distribution with beta = 2.

Result

The book shows that the units should be tested for 1,232 hours.

Results in Weibull++

The result in Webull++ is 1231.708111 hours, as shown next.
